NO: Flyvefisk på dekk
I min manns reisedagbok fra 1979 fant jeg en enkel notis: Flying fish on deck. Bare noen få ord. Nok til å sette fantasien min i bevegelse. Dette maleriet er min fortolkning av dette øyeblikket, et sted ute på Atlanterhavet under en reise fra Santos til Rotterdam. Gjennom lag av maling, collage og fragmenter av håndskrift beveger arbeidet seg mellom det som ble nedtegnet, og det som bare kan fornemmes. For meg handler det mindre om å gjengi en hendelse enn om å utforske hvordan minner og historier lever videre – i spor, fragmenter og mellomrommene mellom dem.
 
EN: Flying Fish on Deck
Among the pages of my husband’s 1979 travel diary, I found a simple note: Flying fish on deck. Just a few words. Enough to set my imagination in motion. This painting is my interpretation of that moment, somewhere in the Atlantic during his voyage from Santos to Rotterdam. Built through layers of paint, collage, and fragments of handwriting, the work moves between what was recorded and what can only be imagined. It is less about depicting an event than exploring how memories and stories survive – in traces, fragments, and the spaces between them.
